My name is Luisa Javier and I will like to tell you a little bit about my journey with Polynesian dancing.
It started 15 years ago while being in high school in Cuernavaca, Mexico and since then, it has been one of my principal hobbies. I joined the halau (hula school) "Kapa Hula Mauloaho" with Prof. Kanani O Makali (Ale Figueroa) and with that group we compete in different places around Mexico. After four years of being a student, my professor invited me to give classes to children and adults in her academia.
I have also given some Hawaiian and Tahitian dancing courses for kids between 8-12 years old in summer camps in the US.
In 2009, I came to KAUST in Saudi Arabia as a founding class for doing my master's degree. I was in the Kingdom for two years, and then I went back to Mexico found a company, but continue practicing hula dancing in different halau.
I will love to share a bit about my passion while at the same time we learn some of the basic principles of the Aloha.
